More stress for the Yankees who have been hit hard by the injury bug this offseason.  Captain Derek Jeter is in the midst of a minor setback in recovery from his ankle injury as his return date remains unknown.

When asked about his possible return to the diamond Jeter told ESPN:"I have stopped putting dates on it.''

Jeter admitted feeling sore after playing in a minor league game and batting four times this past Saturday.

"The goal was to be ready for Opening Day but the goal is also to be ready for the season.  I pushed it to get ready for Opening Day and it didn't work out.''

Asked if he pushed it too hard, Jeter simply replied: “I don’t know.”

Jeter reassure fans and explained: "In the normal recovery process these things happen. There are issues all along the way.''

Jeter went on to say, "I am disappointed I am not going to be ready Opening Day.  Big picture I will be ready. I ran out of days, ran out of time.''

The bruised bronx bombers will open up at home against the Red Sox Monday without stars Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, and Curtis Granderson.
