Golf legend Tiger Woods dropped three places to 36 in the the world rankings released on Monday.

The superstar found himself surpassed by Open champion Darren Clarke, Spain's Miguel Angel Jiminez and Webb Simpson in the global lineup.

Simpson's rise has been meteoric, rising 22 places after his first PGA Tour win on Sunday in the Wyndham Championship.

Meanwhile Woods looks likely to drop even further down the world rankings after failing to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs, which he won in two of the last four years. He had been expected to tee up at the Australian Open in November.
