Shay Given's return to Celtic football club could be compromised because of the Donegal man’s generous Manchester City wage packet according to the Irish Daily Star.

The goalkeeper could be set to fill the gloves of Celtic's Fraser Forster who is due back with Newcastle in the New Year. However the Glasgow club are reportedly only able to offer him a third of his current wages.

The Republic of Ireland international has been made available for a temporary move in the upcoming January transfer window by Manchester City.

Glasgow Celtic football club are eager to snap up the 34-year-old but can only afford to pay him £30,000 of his £90,000 a week salary.

During the last transfer period Given opted to stay at Manchester City after he turned down the chance to rejoin his former manager Mark Hughes at Fulham.
