Glasgow Celtic celebrated another emphatic Old Firm win at Parkhead on Sunday as Neil Lennon's team produced a polished performance. The Bhoys were in control throughout the contest as goals from Charlie Mulgrew, Kris Commons, and Gary Hooper reflected their dominance. Unsurprisingly Neil Lennon was delighted with the display. “We were brilliant from start to finish. Once we found our feet in the game we were magnificent.

“People have thrown this one, can’t handle the big games. Well all those accusations have been diminished today. I’m very proud of the team, the way they passed it and three great goals. "Things we’ve worked on the training ground came to fruition and we changed the system to suit some of the better players and it’s just been a good day."

Lennon is adamant that Rangers off field problems haven't tainted Celtic's smashing domestic form since the Autumn.

“We didn’t need it because we’re the champions. We’ve lost one game in the league since October so you guys set a really high standard here if you think we’re bottle merchants.

“There have been people in the game who say ‘this is devalued’ or ‘this is tainted’.

“The only way it is tainted is if you have won it and you cheated to win it and we have done nothing wrong.

"We have played the best football and scored the most goals, conceded the least goals and have the best disciplinary record in the league so we are worthy champions.”

Lennon reckoned it was crucial that Celtic seized the initiative early on. "The players have their pride and we were disappointed with the way they started the game at Ibrox. We hadn’t started games well against Rangers in the first three matches so it was imperative that we got a foothold in the game early.

“I thought my midfield in Brown and Ledley were fantastic, they covered every blade of grass, read the game very well and broke the play up. I thought Commons was exceptional today as well.

“They did everything we asked them to do and I’m so proud of them. It’s been a good day for the club and the supporters.”
