Carton House in Maynooth, Co.Kildare is expected to be named as the venue for the 2012 Irish Open.

This will be the first time in six years the title has taken place in Carton House. The title is still without a sponsor.

The luxury hotel and golf resort previously hosted the event in 2005 and 2006. For the past two years the tournament was hosted by the Killarney Golf Fishing Club. The event only went ahead with backing from the European Tour and Fáilte Ireland.
