Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has hinted that he may look at bringing in Robbie Keane on a loan deal during the winter. This would be the second year in a row that the LA Galaxy hit-man has gone to Aston Villa during the MLS season break, after his six week stint at Villa last season saw him score 3 goals in 7 appearances.

Speaking to the Mirror, Villa boss Lambert said of Keane, ‘When January gets closer I’ll start to think about things. Robbie Keane is a brilliant player and has been over the years’.

Giovanni Trapattoni and Irish soccer fans will be hoping that their captain and all time top scorer returns to the Premier League so that he can build on the dazzling form that he has shown all year for LA Galaxy, banging in 21 goals and helping them to the MLS Cup Final.

Lambert however has said that he will only make the loan deal happen if Keane wants to play and if he gels well at Villa Park, according to the Irish Independent.

‘Signing an experienced player is not something I will turn away from. If they have got the right attitude to go and do it, and they fit well into the group, then I’ll look at that.
