Clare boss Davy Fitzgerald has urged his young team to take advantage of their second bite at the All-Ireland hurling final

The Banner go into Saturday’s final replay knowing they should have won the drawn game three weeks ago

Cork snatched a late lead at Croke Park first time around after playing second fiddle to their Munster rivals for most of the game

A last gasp point from Domhnall O’Donovan then earned Clare a replay with Fitzgerald keen that they make it count

He said: “I was delighted we got the shot and the point in the last minute the last day. The only thing that went through my head was ‘lets get a shooting chance’. And it came

“We have now arrived at a situation where you have to totally forget those things. Maybe down the road in November or December we’ll look back and think about it then whether we win, lose or draw

“At this stage you’re trying to say to yourself, the last day is over, it’s gone, we have to forget about it and this is a brand new 70 or 75 minutes that we’re going playing.

Cork boss Jimmy Barry-Murphy expects a big improvement from his side on Saturday night

He said: “We’d probably be disappointed overall with the way we played as a team.“I would think on the day Clare performed better than us probably and the goals kept us in contention at a vital stage when we needed them

“But also to balance that, great credit is due to our players because they showed great spirit when things weren’t going our way, but overall I’d say we’ll need to improve a lot to have a chance of beating Clare the next day, but I’m hopeful we can do that.”Clare have named an unchanged team for the replay while Cian McCarthy comes into the Cork side in place of Jamie Coughlan.
