Munster have landed scrum-half Toby Morland on a short-term deal.

The player will join Tony McGahan’s team on July 1 after inking a five-month contract. The 26-year-old will link up with the Magners League champions after playing with Otago and Waikato Chiefs.

He has been brought in to provide cover while Ireland star Tomás O’Leary continues to recover from the ankle injury that so sadly ruined his chances of going on tour with The British and Irish Lions. The move gives Morland the opportunity to luink up with fellow Kiwis Doug Howlett and Lifeimi Mafi.

“I wanted a short-term contract for a start,” Morland told the Otago Daily Times.

“I will then carry on or look elsewhere. I'm keen to get experience overseas and live a different lifestyle.”

Morland moved to The Choefs from Otago prior to this season and played 12 Super 14 games for them including the semi-final and final.
