Westmeath GAA goalkeeper Gary Connaughton could be US bound this summer
Connaughton may head stateside to find work
Westmeath goalkeeper Gary Connaughton could be forced to return to America for the summer if he can’t find work at home.
A mature student at Athlone IT, Connaughton confirmed he is still looking for work.
He told the Irish Mirror, “Last summer I got so frustrated trying to get a job. All I wanted was a job for the summer because I was coming back to college in September.
“It was very frustrating sitting around and not getting any job and there was a great opportunity for me to go over to America and earn a bit of money and I was grateful to the Wolfe Tones GAA club in Boston for helping me out.
“This summer, if the worst comes to the worst and I have nothing on, I will have no choice but to go.
“I don’t want to go. I want to play with Westmeath and with my club. I want to play with Westmeath and I love playing with my club but if you’ve no job then you have no choice but to go.”
