The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are coming to Yankee Stadium
Plans nearly finalized for football game vs. Army Black Knights
The Fighting Irish are coming to the Bronx.
According to IrishCentral sources, the University of Notre Dame is ready to sign a deal to play the U.S. Army Black Knights in 2010 at Yankee Stadium.
“There is information forthcoming, but it would be inappropriate at this time to comment,” said an Army spokesman.
According to the Hudson Valley newspaper the Times Herald-Record — which covers the West Point area — the Army and the Yanks began talking in March about the new stadium hosting the big game.
Army spokesman Kevin Anderson told the Times Herald-Record the team has signed on for several games against Notre Dame. When questioned whether the first game might be played at Yankee Stadium, Anderson responded, “Wouldn’t that be great if there is a chance to play in Yankee Stadium.”
University officials said only that Notre Dame has talked to Army about playing each other.
An official announcement is expected shortly.
