Sports Digest - Donegal’s Jim McGuinness is confident of more success from All-Ireland champions
McGuinness optimistic about new season for Donegal
Donegal boss Jim McGuinness has claimed there is more to come from his All-Ireland champions as they head into the new season.
McGuinness said, “We feel that we have created something special but there is more to come from this team.
“There is a lot more out there for them if they can keep their focus. Donegal is very lucky to have such a group of players that is so focused, so committed and so dedicated.
“I can see that in their eyes. That makes my job, as a manager and a coach, much easier. I firmly believe that they still have another 35 to 40 per cent to find in themselves.
“We have come from a situation of having a lot of bad days out with Donegal and a lot of hurt; days out watching Tyrone win All-Irelands and five Ulster titles. Our lads are now getting a taste of that.”
McGuinness will have to plan without all-star defender Karl Lacey for the start of the National League as he recovers from a hip operation.
