The crowd went wild when Sheamus won

Sheamus is here to stay – trust me.

Just one day after his sensational victory over John Cena, Sheamus, aka Stephen Farrelly (31), from Dublin was suddenly the golden boy of WWE.

And he will remains so. Consider the following.

He was among the top trends on Twitter last night after his victory. John Cena was booed by the crowd far more than Sheamus, even though Sheamus was supposed to be the villain. This guy has the looks and smarts to take WWE to a new level.

Sheamus's victory sent many of the crowd into raptures – this is one popular guy.

The British and Irish media are all over the story today – giving WWE the much sought after international boost that Vince McMahon is desperately seeking.

So Sheamus is going nowhere anytime soon.

His fight with Cena was a bruising battle, which did great credit to both men and their physical fitness.

But the result was no surprise.

For a long time now WWE fans have been proclaiming the need for a new face, fed up of the same old characters.

Well now they have it and Sheamus is it.

It is an extraordinary rise for the six foot Six Dubliner who six months ago was wrestling on a minor league circuit in Florida.
Now he's on top of the world – and a great Irishman to boot.

Way to go Sheamus.

There is a story going around the WWE locker room about WWE champion Sheamus getting punked out by his former roomate, ECW star Yoshi Tatsu. The two lived together along with Ted DiBiase Jr. in Tampa, Florida before they were called up to the main roster. Back when he was wrestling for WWE developmental, Sheamus played “big dog” in the apartment and pissed his off DiBiase and Tatsu because he allegedly would use their protein shakers and not clean them. Ted and Yoshi confronted him at the same time once. Sheamus got mad and threw Tatsu’s shaker at him but Yoshi caught it. Sheamus then called out Tatsu but Yoshi ended up beating Sheamus pretty bad. Yoshi is said to be very good with his hands and has boxed and gone through the New Japan dojo. When recently asked if the story was true, Tatsu would only say, “I just wanted to teach Sheamus a lesson in respect. Don’t mess with other peoples stuff.”

Wow, some kids here need a time out, seriously. The hatred that this man is getting is ridiculous--I guess the word "kayfabe" isn't one that some people have learned yet. It makes sense to hate somebody and wish for their death if they actually hurt you, but just because a company wants to change it's storylines/whatever and their employees go along with them doesn't mean they deserve hatred. I'm glad Sheamus is the champ and I really hope he goes a long way in WWE. The crowd's reaction (cheers) says it all. Americans love the villian and so long as Sheamus is entertaining as a villian he'll do fine.
