Ireland ran out easy winners against Argentina by 29-9 before a crowd of 30,000 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on a bitterly cold afternoon.
A vintage display of penalty kicking by Johnny Sexton who kicked five penalties and tries by D’Arcy and Ferris left Ireland in a comfortable position.
D’Arcy’s late try, when he chipped over the defense and ran onto his own kick to touch down, was the score of the match.
Argentina threatened briefly in the second half but several missed kicks by Contemponi meant that they never looked likely to close the gap.
