Roy Keane may be on the chopping block
Roy Keane may be on the chopping block

Ipswich Town has denied that Irish manager Roy Keane is about to be fired after a dismal run of results that has seen his side in second last place in the Championship First Division.

A club spokesman said: "Reports in the press this morning that Roy will be sacked are complete rubbish. There were no meetings over the weekend and Roy remains in charge."

Ipswich has scored just 17 goals in 17 games and have only won one game all season and drawn ten. Keane, a highly controversial figure, says he will turn things around at the club.

He said: "We are looking a bit more solid at the back but we're obviously not scoring enough."

Keane took over the East Anglia side after leaving Sunderland, where he brought them to the Premiership but then suffered poor results. Without him, Sunderland have climbed the ranks this year and are now among the best teams in Britain.

Keane recently drew major controversy on himself by saying that Ireland deserved to lose against France, and that the Thierry Henry handball was irrelevant to the result.

He needs to be fired and forgotten. No excuse for his attitude and attacks on teammates. None.
