Northern Irish golf star Rory McIlroy was on hand in Florida this week cheering on his Dutch tennis-player girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki at the Sony Ericsson Open. McIlroy kept to the sides to let Wozniacki have her time in the limelight.

The Herald reports that McIlroy looked cool and casual in the Florida heat as he showed up to support tennis pro girlfriend Wozniacki. The Dutch tennis player chatted with rival Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and the media while McIlroy gazed adoringly from nearby.

McIlroy was also in New York recently to cheer on Wozniacki during her match against other tennis ace Maria Sharapova.

In comments from Yahoo Sports News, McIlroy chatted about the differences between golf and tennis events. "Tennis events have a different atmosphere. It's packed into a smaller space so there's a little more buzz going on. It's a nice change to be on the other side of the ropes, being a supporter. I've been to a lot of tennis tournaments the last few months."

Recenlty, McIlroy held the title of number one pro-golfer in the world after claiming victory at the PGA Honda Classic. His title was a short-lived two weeks, however, after English golfer Luke Donald claimed the top spot this past weekend.

McIlroy was also on hand at the White House for a State Dinner during British Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit. McIlroy was just one of a number of guests who included the ensemble from ‘Downton Abbey,’ George Clooney and Damian Lewis.
