Ronan O’Gara ruled out of Munster’s Heineken Cup line up against Edinburgh
O'Gara sustains hamstring injury
Ronan O’Gara has been ruled out of Munster’s Heineken Cup clash with Edinburgh at Thomond Park on Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury in the shock defeat to Racing Metro last weekend.
O’Gara was substituted midway through the first half as Munster’s early dominance of the game proved a false dawn.
They eventually went down 22-17 to the French side and must now beat Edinburgh at home to keep their Cup hopes alive after just one game!
Paul O’Connell will continue his comeback from injury against Edinburgh, but Donncha O’Callaghan (hamstring) and Niall Ronan (groin) are still doubtful.
Munster will need to improve on their Paris performance when they return to Limerick as coach Steve Penney admitted.
He said, “We had opportunities -- there’s no doubt about it. Very disappointed with the outcome but really pleased overall with the performance in a number of areas.
“But we just weren’t capable of nailing those couple of opportunities and we let a couple of opportunities in their hands, which we shouldn’t have provided for them.”
