Ireland captain Robbie Keane is on his way to Dublin to link-up with his team-mates despite a Euro 2012 injury scare.

Keane was the subject of media speculation on Saturday amid rumors of a problem with a hamstring injury.

But the FAI have issued a statement after manager Giovanni Trapattoni made contact with the player ahead of the LA Galaxy match against Chivas on Saturday night.

The Irish skipper was rated as doubtful for that game by his club because of the hamstring problem.

But Ireland boss Trapattoni is confident his record goalscorer will be fit in time for the Euro kick-off against Croatia next month.

A Football Association of Ireland spokesman said: “Robbie Keane’s scan result came through today and showed all clear with no sign of any tear or blood.

“He will be assessed when he comes in and should be fine.”
