Is it time for New England Quarterback Tom Brady to retire?

Yes.

No.

Maybe.

On Sunday night the New York Giants won 21-17 to the New England Patriots and the questions about Tom Brady’s future began.

After the game Brady was seen walking slowly to the locker room and didn’t come back into public view for 15 minutes. He was then seen looking sad and being comforted by his wife.

On Monday morning the press seemed to have it in for Brady, with many publications calling for him to retire.

The International Business Times said “They say you should leave on a high note, but this might be the two-time MVP's best chance to pick up the pieces and start a new chapter in his career.”

The Boston Herald said “At some point - maybe four, five years down the road - Brady will retire and receive his one-way ticket to Canton. But there remains one striking black eye on his career, his legacy.”

Here's what Boston Globe columnist Eric Wilbur wrote after the game "The legend is dead, the prince has turned back into a frog, and...well, use whatever other cliché you want.

“A performance as bad as Tom Brady's tonight in Super Bowl XLVI deserves a lead just as lame.

"Sorry, Tommy Boy, this one's on you. Your hideous performance led to the Giants' 21-17 Super Bowl title win. How embarrassing for your coach, your teammates, and your fans."

The Times goes on to list the reasons he should retire. Let’s see if you agree.

1. He’s too old.

Brady’s 34-years-old and he’s been playing with the Patriots since 2000. Most football players retire in their late-30s. Currently, he’s almost 10 years older than most of his teammates.

2. New England Patriots are changing.

The end of the Super Bowl means the end of contracts and a new look for every team.

3. Gisele Bunchen, his wife, wants a big family.

The couple already have one child, Benjamin Rein, but the supermodel told Hello magazine she can’t wait for Ben to have more sisters and brothers.

She said “I want to have lots of children. It doesn't matter if my body changes. It is the most marvelous thing."

4. A new career.

Of course his career in football wouldn’t be over if Brady stepped off the field. The handsome quarter back could make a boatload of money as a commentator and analyst.

As the Times put it, “Brady could take early retirement as a chance to spend Sundays in the broadcast booth, and not worrying about the Giants' Justin Tuck hitting him all the time.”

5. He leaves behind an amazing legacy.

He’s done more than most football players and has more than enough credentials to get him into the Hall of Fame. He has three Super Bowl rings, he is a two-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) and he’s broken the record for most touchdown passes.

So, what do you think? Is it his time?

In sports, you must be smart enough to play the game, but stupid enough to think it is important. In an interview, Tom made a statement that made me believe that he is no longer stupid enough to think it is important. Tom grew out of the game.
Packers dropped a half-dozen easy catches. 49ers gave up 10 points on just two simple kick-off returns- something they did not do all year. And finally, New England fumbles it's best advantage, catching passes and running for additional yardage. It must be a form of 'divine intervention' of one kind or another.
Like I said -All you Brady haters ,give me Tom and 10 points or STFU!
brady has too many white guys, its obvious, look around and observe where nigh all team sports figure - hockey is next.
Let's see, the score is 21 to 17 and you call that a bad game. You say he's done. Watch the replay's, look and see who dropped the ball here. It was not Brady, but the receivers who could not deliver. Get off Brady already. Thank you Patriots for a great season and bring us to the Super Bowl with you. And thanks to the posts below that support him.
Maybe the Colts could sign him and let Peyton Manning go free agency, if he is able to play. The game changing play was NE's first play for the safety. It dictated all the fourth quarter decisions. And it wasn't Brady's fault.
I blame Madonna.
Brady, Retire, You must be joking.Maby after he wins a couple more superbowls.
Did the Boston Press watch the same game I watched? Four plays changed the direction of that game. Two of Brady's receivers droppoed balls when they were wide open downfield. A Giant player was surrounded by two NE defenders when he made a spectacular catch. The fourth was the last play. A receiver was less than six inches from catching that Hail Mary in the end zone. Brady played really well as did the team. Sometimes even great teams lose. Ray Aumack
For all you bad mouthing Tom,telling him to retire, give me Tom and 10 points or STFU!
Boston fans are the worst.Turn on Lace Curtain Tom after three Super Bowl wins is low, even for Red Sox fans.
When you're winning, they love ya.... Otherwise, you're a bum... Brady is a great quarterback...and he isn't done yet!!! Eli's best days are still to come.
Like the lady said "He can't throw them and catch them at the same time".
How different all the writtings would be if his recievers actually did thier job and caught the great passes he threw to them. his Hail Mary pass was beyond belief but his team mates were not there to catch it.Maybe his recievers should practice thier catching skills.
He set the record for most consecutive completions in a superbowl. His teammates had critical dropped passes and his one interceptions was a miraculous defensive play. tommy, its just the haters, forget'em. Did anyone notice the run game for NE on Sunday? Me neither...they have a 5ft 8 inch running back that no one is worried about. That fact Didn't give Brady much chance for mixing plays well.
