Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly attracting interest from pro NFL teams
Could Coach Kelly go pro?
With his impressive collegiate football coaching record, Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish head football coach Brian Kelly may be getting some attention from NFL to take on a professional coaching job.
On Twitter, Bruce Feldman from CBS (@BFeldmanCBS) said “Chip Kelly not the only Kelly generating NFL interest. ND coach Brian Kelly is rising on some NFL teams radar as well”
Patrick Vint for SB Nation writes that with “a handful of vacant NFL positions and a lack of NFL-level replacements available to fill them, the temptation to step into the pro ranks could prove too great for Kelly.”
Coach Kelly has certainly proven himself to be a stellar coach. This year, he led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish through a perfect season right into the upcoming BCS Championship showdown with Alabama.
Prior to Notre Dame, Kelly coached at other MidWestern schools including the University of Cincinnati, Central Michigan and s at Grand Valley (MI) State.
Perhaps part of Kelly’s allure, as Vint writes, is his lack of connections within the NFL world. However, Notre Dame will surely be keen to keep Kelly on the sidelines, especially if they clinch the title on January 7th in Miami.
