To general disappointment, the University of Notre Dame released photos and video yesterday of the new Adidas uniforms for the Oct. 6 Fighting Irish-Miami Hurricanes face-off in Chicago, Notre Dame’s annual Shamrock Series game.
The Chicago Sun-Times headline stated there were "mixed reviews" for Notre Dame new uniform.
The biggest change to the uniform is the helmet: the new version is gold on one side, navy blue on the other, with an updated ‘Leprechaun’ graphic reversed on the navy side so that it faces opponents.
The new version of the ‘Leprechaun’ logo also appears on the blue stripe on the left leg of the players’ gold pants, on their gloves, and on the chest of their base layer.
Fans and sports media panned the new look on Twitter: disappointed fan @DavidAllen21 wrote, “Notre Dame will go from the top five best college football uniforms to the bottom five worst with these.”
@dubjan23, an aspiring sports journalist, tweeted: “Wtf @ Notre Dame’s new uniforms? I mean. Does Adidas hate Notre Dame?”
Reviews weren’t all bad, though. Linebacker Manti Te’o said, “I love them. Look good, feel good. You feel good, you play good.” On the other hand, perhaps Te’o is required to like whatever uniform he’s told to wear.
According to Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, the Fighting Irish will wear a redesigned uniform for the Shamrock Series game every season from now on, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Given the mass disapproval of this year’s design, it’s by no means clear hat these new threads are here to stay.

Notre Dame will get their arses beat, so what does it matter in which uniform?

This is the "thug" model for recruiting in Chicago where the game will be played. You have to be realistic. Just think if they had worn this in Dublin against Navy.
