It is expected that Johnny Murtagh will confirm that his has quit his position as Ballydoyle stable jockey on Monday.
For some time there had been speculation that Murtagh was going to quit. There were also suggestions that the Meathman, a top jockey in the UK had already been offered a position but turned it down.
Stable jockey for Dermot Weld, Pat Smullen, is now expected to take over his position. Murtagh replaced Jamie Spencer in Ballydoyle in 2008.
A spokeperson at Ballydoyle would not confirm or deny that Murtagh had quit his position with the stable.
