ciaradexy | Aug 05, 2012, 10:43 AM EDT
Why not use the American flag instead of mine or is it that Americans would rather trample my flag into the ground instead of your own?
ciaradexy | Aug 05, 2012, 10:42 AM EDT
JamieLM, the tricolour IS the business of Irish people.Americans disrespecting my flag is my business. Fighting Irish is an American thing, not an Irish thing. It bores the Irish.
ciaradexy | Aug 05, 2012, 10:37 AM EDT
Americans should not be using my countries flag for their benefit. Enough of ye are moaning about a statue of Che in Galway and yet youre ok with this? Disgusting.

Can I Buy These Anywhere ??? Please Write Back As Soon As Possible
BobbyBhoy | May 26, 2012, 12:00 PM EDT
Steve if a bunch of giant American Kids playing with Tri-color studs offends you, I suggest avoiding the Boston area if you plan a trip to America in the next 600 years.
STEVENSTAR | May 16, 2012, 09:24 AM EDT
AS AN IRIHMAN I ALONG WITH THE OTHER IRISH PEOPLE ON HERE REAL IRISH PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY LIVE IN IRELAND I TOTALLY AGREE ALONG WITH THEM AND I FIND IT OFFENSIVE AMERICANS USING OUR FLAG TO REPRESENT THEIR AMERICAN FOOTBALL WHICH MOST OF US DONT EVEN FOLLOW OR EVEN CARE ABOUT .. YET AGAIN AMERICANS TRYING TO STEAL OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY !!!
JayFay | May 16, 2012, 04:55 AM EDT
Accidentally submitted the post below before finished, so to carry on... Very few people in Ireland have heard of ND, nor care anything about it, so for ND to wear these colours is taking serious liberties. If anybody should be wearing these cleats it should be Navy, as they are the "home" team.
JayFay | May 16, 2012, 04:50 AM EDT
I'm somewhat with eamonn and bythebay on this, I'm Irish born and bred and I like American football, but ND have nothing to do with Ireland and I'm annoyed that they're wearing these cleats - and boy are those cleats ugly :s. The whole fighting Irish thing is an Irish-American thing, and that is not the same thing as proper Irish, not by a long shot
seanomelb | May 09, 2012, 08:17 PM EDT
Cool looking cleats maybe Bythebay way will buy a pair and sit them atop an orange flag it might give her a "trampling" feeling.
Eamonn12 | May 09, 2012, 04:59 PM EDT
I agree with Bythebay. I don't know one person in Ireland interested in American football. And considering the team is not Irish, I find the use of our tricolour offensive and rediculous.
5454pawz | May 09, 2012, 08:43 AM EDT
Bythebay is a waste of space. Just simply ignore her/his postings.
seanomelb | May 09, 2012, 01:26 AM EDT
bytheway has been caught out once again the little banshee from - who knows ?? no Irish or American in her black veins.
pilib04 | May 08, 2012, 08:59 PM EDT
Bytheway, the Notre Dame-Navy football game is being played at Staid Aviva (Aviva Stadium)not Croke Park.
jamieLM | May 08, 2012, 08:56 PM EDT
Byethebay must be on another planet because he/she isn't accurate about anything Irish or American. To the Irish, if this person is really Irish, he/she has a lot of nerve to act like he/she has the authority to speak for all of you, as if you aren't capable of expressing your own opinions.
pilib04 | May 08, 2012, 08:48 PM EDT
Bythebay, you have no idea what Irish think about Notre Dame football. Perhaps if you visit Ireland some day, you might get an idea!
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 07:31 PM EDT
Thank you clevelander, jamieLM,seanmelb,Georgie for proving byethebay is a big no nothing windbag!
clevelander | May 08, 2012, 07:16 PM EDT
@bytheway "Ha, ha, yes indeed head on into Croker lads." The game is not played in "Croker" But since you have no idea where in Ireland the game is being played( because I know you are not in Ireland) why do you comment? And you state "It's a definite yawn for us." How dare you speak for me. I am Irish and you have no right to speak for me of any other Irishman/ Irishwomen!!
seanomelb | May 08, 2012, 06:53 PM EDT
bythebay is a sick mother who hates anything Irish or American.
jamieLM | May 08, 2012, 06:10 PM EDT
Bythebay, you are NOT an authority on all things American. Get over yourself. No one here cares what you think about anything. Why don't you just keep your nose in Irish business where it belongs.
edwardkeating | May 08, 2012, 05:30 PM EDT
just win ND.............fight.....fight....fight......................go ..........................IRISH..................
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 05:25 PM EDT
STEVENSTAR, very few Irish would waste money on American Football. Teenage players from two American colleges, very slow, boring game. Players trying hard not to get injured. They were in Ireland nearly 20 years ago and the commemorative shirts didn't even sell in Ireland. Those had to be shipped back to the US! It's a definite yawn for us.
89west | May 08, 2012, 04:56 PM EDT
Steven.........It is a weekend of carousing and making fools of themselves getting soused. They have done more than almost any other institution to perpetuate the myth here in the Us of the rowdy and drunken folks with Irish surnames.
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 04:15 PM EDT
Put up or shut up byethebay!
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 04:11 PM EDT
Ha, ha, yes indeed head on into Croker lads.
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 04:05 PM EDT
The Americans don't even know football is soccer, ha, ha.
SeamusMor | May 08, 2012, 03:46 PM EDT
BytheBay really missed the boat on this one by not be able to discern between a compliment and an insult, nor to recognize the obvious economic benefits for Ireland and Dublin in having 50,000 tourists traveling to Croke Park for the experience. If one wished to insult and infuriate the Irish, I would think wearing shoes with the Union Jack would be how to go about it. You are living proof that an Irishman will travel a hundred miles to receive an insult!
SeamusMor | May 08, 2012, 01:35 PM EDT
As many of ye know, I'm not a fan of nd. However, I know a bit about sport, flags, Ireland and the US. 1) This is one of the best things nd has ever done. 2) - A huge crowd to witness Navy v nd is a guarantee. 3) The shoe color is not the flag only the colours of. I've seen similar for other countries including the US. To think it's a desecration is idiotic. 4) It be great if the Republic's and All- Ireland teams would add more of the tricolour to their uniforms! Sla'inte!
STEVENSTAR | May 08, 2012, 01:16 PM EDT
I WONDER HOW MANY OF US IRISH WILL GO ALONG TO THIS MATCH ? ID SAY VERY FEW .. AS FOR THOSE FOOTBALL BOOTS MY GOD YOU AMERICANS ARE SURELY HAVING A LAUGH RIGHT !! ... haha!! they look tacky and cheap !
BrianO | May 08, 2012, 01:13 PM EDT
First the footwear had to be approved, second they are an effort to acknowledge the Irish people, Third bythebay the tri colors are the colors of Republic of Ireland, I know you would prefer a green, white, and gold crescent.
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 12:38 PM EDT
Put your money where your mouth is byethebay according to you no one should show up,I'll bet $500 that 40,000 do show up-put up or shut up bythebay
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 11:58 AM EDT
Americans disrespecting the Irish flag, of course. Nothing new there since disrespect is part of their mantra. This game is between two US college teams, no interest there for anyone in Ireland.
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 11:53 AM EDT
Americans and their continuing attempts at puerile name calling. Laughable, ha, ha. Shows the level of their intelligence, oooppps, lack of intelligence!
flattop55 | May 08, 2012, 11:37 AM EDT
American law forbids using the flag like this; how would people here feel if Notre Dame tromped through the mud wearing the US flag on their dirty feet? This is misguided and disrespectful to Ireland's national flag.
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 11:27 AM EDT
If it means nothing as byethebuttinski says ,then absolutely no one will show up for the game.Wanna bet who is wrong on this one all knowing byethebuttinski?
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 11:19 AM EDT
Will Tommy Rees be wearing tri-color cleats in jail?
Murph46 | May 08, 2012, 11:18 AM EDT
Will Tommy Rees be wearing his in jail?
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 11:11 AM EDT
Hate to burst the self important bubble of the Americans but this Notre Dame-Navy game means nothing to Ireland or the people of Ireland or Dublin.
johnshiel | May 08, 2012, 10:51 AM EDT
thanks in advance for the tolerance and kindness that the residents of Dublin will show to visiting Notre Dame fans who will surely, some of them, make ssses of themselves. keep in mind they will spend a fair amount of cash, they love (their idea of) Ireland, and they will go back home to Cleveland and Pittsburg and Palo Alto before you get totally fed up with them, eh?
Bythebay | May 08, 2012, 09:34 AM EDT
Why don't they do that to the American flag????
Paradigm | May 08, 2012, 09:16 AM EDT
I'm not a committed Irish republican - but what bad taste - like trampling on the flag.
