Robbie Keane has left the door open to a Premier League return as he prepares to play his last game for Aston Villa.

The Irish captain will wrap up his loan spell at Villa Park this weekend before reporting to the LA Galaxy for pre-season training.

Keane has denied reports that he could stay with Villa for the rest of the season, insisting that he will go back to the MLS ahead of the new campaign.

But he hasn’t ruled out a return to English football in the future, just months after moving to Los Angeles from Spurs.

“There’s been talk about me staying on at Villa but, at the end of the day, Galaxy are my parent club and, first and foremost, I have to respect them,” said Ireland’s record scorer.

“In March, they have some big games - there is the start of the new league season and they have a quarter-final in their Champions League.

“I’ve enjoyed my spell here at Villa. It’s a great club but it was my choice to go to the States. I could have stayed in the Premier League for a few more years but I didn’t.

“When I go back to LA, it could be completely different. At this moment in time I can’t tell what will happen. It’s a case of watch this space.

“But people have seen over the years with the clubs I’ve been at, how quickly I leave if I don’t think I fit in. Once I get something in my head I make a decision fairly quickly and stick to it.”

A great neighbour of mine there! Good man Robbie!
Hopefully, Robbie Boy will be in top form for the Euros, starting with Spain, Italy, Croatia. If by the grace of God, they take 2nd in their group and the Frenchies take 1st, then there will be a game of Titanic interest.
