Katie Taylor won the women’s lightweight gold at the Ahmet Comert cup in Istanbul and was named best female and best overall boxer, while Carl Frampton won gold in the men’s featherweight final.
Taylor once again solidified her reputation as the best pound-for-pound female amateur in the world with another brilliant tournament, capping it off with a 5-1 win over Turkish lightweight Ozlem Dinc in the final.
Carl Frampton also won gold when he won the featherweight title, beating local favorite Cetin Ozdemir.
Beijing Olympian bronze medal winner Paddy Barnes could not take his place in the light flyweight final as he succumbed to a viral infection, and Eric Donovan rounded out the medal haul with a bronze in the lightweight division.
