MacDowell wore the European flag around him, but "little"Rory decided to wear the British/Ulster flag. Mcllroy is a chicken and a disgrace.
Headline should read: "Irish-American Ryder-Cop gets Ulster-Scottish Northern-Irish Catholic golfer who feels more British than Protestant, and wears Ulsterised English national flag whilst playing for EU in US - to the course on time!" An indication of just how complex the Troubles used to be and multiculturalism is. State trooper covered 6 kilometre journey somewhere in between 26 to 32 minutes.
Maybe coming to America and meeting some Irish-Americans will help little Rory develop a sense of pride in being Irish.
a cop without a clue saving the fence straddler paddy who feels mor english. while benefitting with the all island of ireland golfing org this stan laural looker walks on water. This Lambeg drum beater fella. who knew?
I'll bet this will be the most memorable "drive" of Rory's entire career...
Just a correction: Collins is not a State Trooper (Illinois State Police), but deputy police chief of Lombard, a lovely, separate suburb of Chicago. Midwesterners take pride in showing hospitality to visitors and Officer Collins did us proud in this regard. Chicago would like to show you folks from across the pond that there is plenty of America to experience between NYC and LA. Bon Jour!
great article
Guess he did not realize that Rory prefers to be thought of as a BRIT vice Irish (orange). Glad to see the Ryder Cop was PC in offering his services to a possible descendent of a Black and Tan ancestor.
So his name was Patrick which makes him Irish American?? My name is very, very Irish being one not of Latin, Norman or English origin. It once was comparatively rare in the States but the first person I met with my first name was .... Scalzi. His parents just liked the name with a grandfather from Calabria. Did that make him Irish American?
There are very few good Politicians out of Chicago, Irish or otherwise. This story is good though.
The cop did the right thing...I was watching the match after getting off the range when I saw this car pull up and Rory get out...I told my buddy.."he just got a police escort...dang if I wasnt right! The cop did what was right!
NOW this is a great "Irish-connection" story!!! The disingenuous and ad hominem drivel your BLOG perpetrates and perpetuates about non-liberal politicians should be self-proscribed . . . .
In a very political year where a few despicable xenophobes think the essence of patriotism is to demand that only THEIR view point or country matters, it's nice to see that real Americans (and especially good Irish Americans) want equal opportunity and respect for all and let talent and drive win out. It's also the best politics and foreign policy in the long run. I'm sorry the U.S. let the Ryder Cup slip away this time out, but it's such a thrill to watch the grace with which McIlroy plays the game, it's a healthier challenge for us to live up to next time. Thank you Officer Rollins; it's nice to know we have come so far from the bad old Daley Years and that the best of America can be found in (or from) Chicago these days.
How would you say DUMB MICK LOL
