Colm Cooper has emerged as a worrying doubt for Kerry as they  go in search of NFL Division One glory at Croke Park on Sunday.

The Kingdom’s star front man may miss his side’s final with Derry, a repeat of last year’s decider which was won by the Ulster outfit, after picking up a knock in a weekend game for his club Dr Croke's.

Cooper suffered a tweaked hamstring in the victory over Killarney rivals Spa on Saturday, and with Paul Galvin also a doubt with a groin strain, Tommy Walsh a further worry and Declan O’Sullivan definitely missing, Kerry boss Jack O’Connor will be hoping not to be shorn of forward options.

O'Sullivan is absent with a hamstring injury of his own, while Marc O Se (medial ligaments) and Seamus Scanlon (ankle) are definite absentees too. Padraig Reidy, Aidan O'Shea, Micheal Quirke and Tommy Griffin could be further losses to the side as they look to maintain an unbeaten season and gain revenge for last year’s defeat.

In other injury news, Westmeath's hurlers suffered a blow at the weekend when talented midfielder Paddy Dowdall suffered a suspected broken collarbone.

The player could now miss the early rounds of the Christy Ring Cup after picking up the knock against Laois on Sunday in the sides’ final NHL Division Two fixture of the campaign.
