The New York Jets and New York Giants have said their new stadium at the Meadowlands will be one of the greenest in the country.

While they were talking about the environment, an announcement today about the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame makes the new arena even greener.

And a bit orange, too.

The owners of the NFL teams and Syracuse University announced Tuesday that the Orange will play the University of Notre Dame in 2014 and 2016 at the new $1.6B stadium.

Syracuse will be the home team for both games.

For Notre Dame's New York area fans, that means three chances to see their beloved Irish up close and personal. Thje first will be in 2010 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Irish have played Syracuse six times, including an embarrassing 24-23 loss last season when the Irish gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns to an Orange squad that had scored two fourth-quarter TDs all season and finished with nine losses. The series is tied 3-3.
