Fighting Irish connections to Super Bowl XLVI - Giants’ Justin Tucks and Patriot’s Sergio Brown
One Notre Dame alum will be taking home a championship ring
The upcoming Super Bowl XLVI may be the highly anticipated showdown of two of the greatest football players today - the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Giants’ Eli Manning - but it will also be a showdown for two former Irish players from Notre Dame.
ESPN’s Matt Fortuna is drawing attention to the fact that a Notre Dame alum will be walking away from Super Bowl XLVI with a championship ring.
Justin Tucks of the New York Giants and Sergio Brown of the New England Patriots will be going head to head in Indianapolis this weekend.

Tuck was drafted out of Notre Dame in 2005 while Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
Fortuna also sheds light on other Irish ties to Super Bowl XLVI. Notre Dame’s “director of personnel Tim McDonnell, meanwhile, is the nephew of Giants co-owner John Mara. Mark Bavaro, drafted out of Notre Dame in 1985, served as one of the Giants' honorary captains Sunday [1/22].”
