The upcoming Super Bowl XLVI may be the highly anticipated showdown of two of the greatest football players today - the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Giants’ Eli Manning - but it will also be a showdown for two former Irish players from Notre Dame.

ESPN’s Matt Fortuna is drawing attention to the fact that a Notre Dame alum will be walking away from Super Bowl XLVI with a championship ring.

Tuck was drafted out of Notre Dame in 2005 while Brown was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010.

Fortuna also sheds light on other Irish ties to Super Bowl XLVI. Notre Dame’s “director of personnel Tim McDonnell, meanwhile, is the nephew of Giants co-owner John Mara. Mark Bavaro, drafted out of Notre Dame in 1985, served as one of the Giants' honorary captains Sunday [1/22].”

With Irish on both sides, Super Bowl XLVI is sure to be a fantastic match-up. Who are you rooting for?
