Olympic Bronze medalist Darren Sutherland was buried Monday after a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church in Navan.

Hundreds of mourners paid their final respects to the Irish boxer, who was found dead in his apartment in London one week ago.

The President and the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) were both represented by their respective aide-de camps, and Minister for Sport Martin Cullen was also in attendance.

Silver medalist Kenny Egan, a former roommate and close friend of Sutherland, was at the mass, as were members of Sutherland’s St. Saviors Club in Dublin.

After the funeral mass Sutherland was buried at St. Finnian’s cemetery in Navan, dressed in the Irish tracksuit that he wore at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
