Celtic manager Neil Lennon has signed a dramatically improved contract that will see him stay on at the famed club.

Despite failing to reclaim the Scottish Premier League title from Rangers last season, the Celtic board recognized major improvements in the teams performances.

The manager's new contract was agreed by the board two weeks ago, and the 39-year-old will start in earnest when he returns to work on Monday.

Lennon's salary is believed to be more than double last season's terms – with a 12-month rolling deal. Lennon spent last season on a six-month rolling deal, on a salary thought to be worth about 200,000 pounds.

Lennon faced a series of major security threats last season, including a pitch invasion by an opposition supporter, but he said he would not be forced out of a club he served with as a player.
