Could have sworn Father "Mac" saying Ballykissangel was in Wicklow county.
What the hell are you talking about, Seamus? Dublin 8 takes in The Liberties, The Coombe and Rialto. You couldn't find more traditional working-class areas of Dublin if you tried. (Also, uniquely among even-numbered Dublin post-codes, part of Dublin 8 is north of the river.) Have you even been to Dublin?
seamus, man I'm not slaggin' you but when you go to a pub,do you go for a few pints with your mates, maybe some football, or a punch-up? A few years in a fancy address don't mean youre a snob.
forFlann Dublin 8 is south of the Liffey; the working class part of Dublin is north of the Liffey (i.e., the odd numbers, not even). If Colin Farrell and Paul Galvin went into an alley, care to wager which one would come out vertical?
Eamon Farrell, footballer and very clever businessman, was from Dublin 8 originally. No doubt his son's speech, and fondness of the "F" word come from his father's early humble beginings. As far as the prestigous schools, Colin was asked to leave both, one rather dramatic in fashion. Gay Byrne's interview with Colin on "The Meaning of Life" he was asked,"Is it true you were expelled for hitting a teacher?" "No, I just put him against the wall, he put his hands on me first". At 17, thanks to earnings from Oz modeling agency and line-dancing instructing he was on his own in a tiny place off rings-end Rd. He certinally felt more at ease with his working-class friends.
