NEW YORK CITY

The Empire City has more Irish bars and restaurants than any other city in the world, the legacy of how immigration and love of tradition created a strong and vibrant Irish-American community. It also benefits from hundreds of thousands of tourists and students from Ireland, and other stars in the global Irish universe.

Every borough in the city has at least one Irish stronghold with terrific Irish pubs and restaurants. But it's a safe bet that there are great bars dotted all over the city map, from cozy neighborhoods to Times Square. The sign of a shamrock in a pub's window is just about a sure sign that a proper pint and a great time is waiting inside for you!

If you are looking a landmark Irish establishment in the city, then why not try McSorleys, the legendary Irish bar that first opened its doors in 1854. Women were not allowed in until 1970!

McSorley's Old Ale House is located at 15 East 7th Street, New York, NY 10003. Ph: 212 474 9148

The beer taps at McGillin's Olde Ale House have been flowing since the 1860's and this St. Patrick's Day will be on exception. Although the Philadelphia parade will take place on Sunday, March 14, McGillin's will be celebrating the Irish saint throughout the week with beer specials and a heck of a party.

Ooops! Eight. My PC is jumping around.
Five best pubs to stay away from on St.Patrick's Day. I won't mention two in Los Angeles area because twice a year boozers might go and ruin it for the rest of us, who won't be there anyway.
In Syracuse, NY Kitty Hoyne's is the best!
Em, factchecker, please! That address for Bennigan's in Texas is their corporate headquarters.
this is awesome- my really good friends uncle actually owns O'reillys! Great staff! Funny story, it was my favorite restaurant before I Was 21 but I planned a trip and happened to meet his nephew in co. Meath in all places!! Very very nice people - and awesome drinks.. Whenever you visit, ask what the paintings mean.. it means more than you think! This year o'reillys is havin a block party!! So hit it up

"1095 SE 17th St. Fort Lauderdale, Florida 954-525-WAXY TEXAS Bennigan's Grrill and Tavern in Richardson, Texas is preparing for an influx of Irish American's this St. Patrick's Day. The bar is an upbeat place to kick back with friends and family. It's the best pub in Georgia to experience the genuine spirit of Irish hospitality. The bar is famous for it's Turkey O'Toole sandwich and its Oh Baby Back Ribs. 501 W. George Bush Hwy. Ste. 140 Richardson, Texas 75080 469-277-6371" Best pub in GEORGIA"? I thought this place was in Texas!

Correction, not FIDOs, Fados. Sorry.
Fidos in Atlanta GA is also a very good irish pub.
Agreed, McGuires in Pensacola or Destin is a great place. Also, Flannagan's in Dunedin Florida is great place to be any day of the week.
What about "McGuires in Pensacola, Fl.. no one can make better beer or steaks.
Tough to narrow things down to one pub in each city. New York's got sooooo many. For the legit experience, you have to head way uptown to Woodlawn, straddling the border of the Bronx and Yonkers. There you have Rory Dolan's, Behan's, The Rambling House and others. Upstate, the Inn at Leeds, formerly the Leeds Irish Center, is a great bar as is Furlong's and the Blackthorne Inn, both in East Durham. Murphy's and McGillicuddy's in New Paltz are a good time too.
There are far better Irish Bars in Chicago than Fado, plus I think there charging in, Better Irish bars are Celtic Crossing on Chicago Avenue, Mystic celt on Southport and Galway Arms on Clark street.
