How does the Forbidden City Theater in Beijing, China fit into North American Irish dance master Karl Drake's world? Ask the sellout crowds who will get the chance to see Drake's Irish dancing superstars on stage with ten of their Chinese contemporaries on March 3rd!

Karl Drake, TCRG, leaves February 28th with five of his internationally-acclaimed Irish dance students for Beijing.  Drake, Amanda Carpenter, Catie Foley, Peter Gardner and Dan Walsh will join with ten of the Drake School of Irish Dance's students who live and train in Shanghai.

Drake's first foray into teaching Irish dance in China was in 2011 at the invitation of Yan Ling School of the Arts in Beijing. Together with student teacher Catie Foley, Drake traveled to China to instruct dozens of enthusiastic and talented Chinese dance students. Since that time, Drake has visited China numerous times and has successfully expanded his Irish dance program to Shanghai in response to overwhelming demand.

The concert on March 3rd at the Forbidden City Theater in Beijing features Davy Spillane of Riverdance fame, the Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, the Celtic Connections choir and Drake Irish Dance.

Drake School of Irish Dance was founded in twenty-five years ago when Karl Drake emigrated from Ireland to Atlanta and established what has become one of the most well-known Irish dance schools in the South. With studios in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mexico, Drake Irish dancers have a record of competitive achievements locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
