The first results are just beginning to be announced from the North American Irish Dancing Championships held in Orlando.

Today was the second day of the prestigious and coveted championship and saw competition in the following categories: Senior Ladies (20 and over) Groups A and B; Girls Under 17, A and B; Girls Under 13, A and B; Boys Under 9; and Boys Under 8.

Yesterday was an exciting day for all involved in Orlando with a hectic day of competition in many important categories such as senior men and ladies' over 20s, culminated by a magnificent opening ceremony.

A contingent from the Southern Region opened tonight's awards ceremony with a short play and then the results began to be announced in Disneyworld's Dolphin Resort, where the Championship is being held.

Colin Mountain (111) was the first result to be announced; he won the Boys Under 8 competition. Colin dances with the Richens Timm Academy in Ohio.

Adam McGhee of Mayo, Ireland, was crowned victor of the boys under 9s competition. He dances with the Coleman school of dancing in the Irish county.

>Fiona Dargan from the Rince na Tiarna Irish dancing school in New York was the victor in the U13A girls category, while Libby Decker from New Mexico took the U13B age group prize.

>Erinn Brown - another dancer from the McGinley Academy - took the Under 17A ladies title, while Corinne Galibois won the U17B prize.

Jacquline Markey, from the O'Grady Quinlan dancing school in Pennsylvania won the Senior Ladies A trophy, while Maggie Darlington took the Senior Ladies B prize.
