Guinness in the US is just rotten. Honestly, who makes it there should be put into a dark room for a long time. The stuff in Ireland is completely different.
Drs. order was for me to drink a small glass of Guinness every other day when I was a child cos I was anemic. My Mammy put a teaspoon of sugar to help with bitter taste. To this day I hate Guinness as it was used for medicinal purposes for me. Yuck! Now why did she not use blackcurrant instead ??
Back in the 70's the Guinness tap had a small valve on the side that put stale beer in the glass. this has stopped, but , I know it was done, or am I dreaming.
DID YOU KNOW THAT GUINNESS TASTES A LOT BETTER WITH A LITTLE BLACKCURRANT IN IT, ABOUT A TEASPOON FULL
If you are in Belfast, Andersonstown specifically, Casement Park more specifically -just ask Paddy behind the bar for a pint of "Double". He'll fix you up real nice!
I have often lifted a Proper Pint and a Low Flyer Drop of good stuff....
I heard that mentioned in this IC article earlier ordering "A pint o Plain". I just returned to the states from Holiday in Galway and I asked for a Pint of plain, they didn't know what I meant. Dublin, they do, the "country", not so much.
#10........1759 on a 24hr clock would be 5:59pm...9 minutes past the 5:50 time listed
After the Civil War here in the United States, the huge German-American population spread the popularity of lager beer throughout the country. otherwise we'd be drinking gin and tonic like the Raj in India!
