If you really hunt I believe you could find some better ones. The Irish are great with sharp tongues. Love them.

Never heard anyone Irish talk like this. But then again they tended to be kind-hearted, affectionate, easy to smile and laugh at themselves and indulgently at the faults of others. Their main criticism was for themselves and in naming specific acts and attitudes they would not tolerate in their children. The phrase I most heard was "More power to you!" ... You left out one insult I have heard: "He has a great future behind him."

I agree with Mairin67, I too think they are just made up for tourists. A real Irish insult would cut you to the bone! Like--"You should inherit a million pounds, and that won't be enough to pay your medical bills."

Never heard of any of them. Sounds like one of those silly little phrase books they sell to tourists. The Irish can and have come up with much better sayings than these here.

Thank God the Irish are a forgiving race, always ready to turn the other cheek.

I agree - these are more like school yard taunts than insults. Don Rickles where are you when we need you?

Here's one more. On your return home, may your mother run
from beneath the porch and bite you on the leg.
