Repeating this article is not just boring, it's discriminatory. What about an article on the 100 most popular foreign migrant names in Ireland? Patel, Chen, Jarszcinski, mBongo...

OK, we have seen this filler article multiple times now. How about the second most common 100 Irish surnames (101 - 200) next time and the third most common 100 Irish surnames (201 - 300) the time after that?

This article is a perfect examp
le of shameless plagiarism.
Every name is taken word for
word from "The Surnames
of Ireland" by Edward MacLysacht,
ISBN 0-7165-2364-7 With no attempt
at attribution. It doesn't say
much for the quality of your
journalism.

So frustrated! On my father's side I am a Caughey (or McCaughey) and very Catholic, but cannot find many connections in Ireland. We have a Bernard Caughey (entering into Canada, but not where he is from. Any way I can find out?

I guess Mooney ( Maonaigh ) must not be a common Irish Surname. I know it's an old one. ;-)

Wastful of ink & paper. You should know this list by the age of 10.Where have your parents & grandparents been. A more interesting list would be Irish names which most people do not know or expect to be of Irish origin. Yes, that list would take study and time; neither of which appeal to Irish people.
