‘The Simpsons’ Mr. Burns copes with the Republican loss, fiscal cliff and immigration - VIDEO
Character has “progressive plan” to let in “200 grimey Irishmen” a year
Leave it to FOX’s animated series ‘The Simpsons’ to hilariously tackle the main issues of today.
Following the Democratic victory in the presidential election, ‘The Simpsons’ Mr. Burns, the super rich villain in the series, issued a PSA that explains the issues that are now facing the nation, namely the fiscal cliff and immigration.
Election references abound in the short clip, as Mr. Burns has binders that read simply ‘WOMEN’ on the ground by him, and a tattered ‘Romney Ryan’ poster.
Mr. Burns explains what the fiscal cliff is, and then shares his ideas about immigration reform.
“And we’ve got to change our approach to immigration,” goes on Mr. Burns.
“I have a progressive proposal to let into this country 200 grimey Irishmen a year. I’ve got lots of potatoes that need peeling, and stables to be mucked out.”
“Sir,” says Smithers to Mr. Burns, “the instapolls are in, you’re just digging yourself deeper.”
While Mr. Burns’ comments can easily be read as offensive, in context they’re meant to be seen as hilarious from the super-rich and super-delusional Mr. Burns.
