I am very proud to be a Kelly, and Ireland is definitely on my list of travels. I want to have an Irish themed wedding and have been looking up anything and everything I can find to make sure some of my heritage shines through on my perfect day! =)
I'm proud to carry my family surname of Kelly as my given name! It is spelled KELLY, no "EY" or any other modernized rendition. I'd love to know which county in Ireland my Kelly's hailed from, however looking for a "Kelly" in Ireland is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Any suggestions on how to trim my search down a little?
Really interesting ... my father's natural father was a Kelly and I'm thinking I might start some snooping in that direction!
Don't for get Kevin O' Kelly RTE correspondent
My maiden name is Kelly, which I still use along with my married name and we named our daughter Kelly. I'm very proud to be a Kelly (also a Gillespie, on my Mother's side) I was born in America, but the family is from Cork.
I'm just starting my research into learning all I can about the Kelly and Gordon Clans from which I hail. I thought I'd start with Ancestory.com. Does anyone have a better source for looking into Irish/Scottish decendants?
kelly is my last name. I live in Jamaica
My family's maidan name is Rainey..All Brown Blake hair Blue eyes with my Aunt red hair and green eyes...I as well married a Kelley blond hair blue eyes and yes Irish all the way...
Hi all you Kellys!! So I understand that my family name of Keely and Keeley are considered of the Kelly clan ? Can anyone expand on this for me? thanks..and an early Happy St Pat's to you all!! :0)
I so agree with the posters who mentioned the omission of Grace and Gene! And I thank the other poster who mentioned the fact of only one of your parents being an Irish Kelly. Brought Mother's ashes to Holly Mount for scattering last year on Pancake/Shrove/Fat Tuesday. Chose the spot because it was so beautiful. Been so sorry that there is no recorded family history and the lovely proprietor of a B&B in Longford asked me if my Dad was another religion. And he was! Now the answer - the relatives did not gather her in so she was a bit cool to the idea of kin. Oh, while Elizabeth Clare Kelly's ashes are in Ireland, the bones that remained I brought back and scattered them on an incredible rock near the Imagine mandala in Central Park. And I did so at dusk on St. Patrick's Day in 2010.
im granddaughter of a Kelly nd my first name is Kelly, im interested in the Kelly family line
I been searching for my Kelly Family Tree for 10 years. Peyton Kelly born 1818 married Honor Jane White born 1823.
I'm familiar with this noble name! It is said that when God was naming the Irish, He became quite tired. Taking a break, God decided to divide the remaining Irish into two lots. The larger lot, a contention bunch, God named "Murphy"! The other group, grand people, God named "Kelly"! To keep the latter group in line, for vanity was their preoccupation, He made them all cousins!
