BEGORRAH! Seeing that photo from the DOCUMENTARY "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" sure takes me back. Almost as bad as the 1920's "Meet the Irish" travelogue they used to run on local PBS every St Patrick's Day. All craggy-faced farmers with pipes, old women in black clothing, and young Colleens on bicycles! Golly, Irish people are so funny!, it's just a good thing they don't speak English (from the travelogue - they speak Gaelic, as did their ancient forbears), or their famous tempers might erupt to hear us talking about them.

If you want to be really fussy the following points could be made.....Q2. if "hell" is a placename it should start with a capital H. "Connaught" is not the normal spelling of the province of CONNACHT. Q3. Labour also in government. Q4. Cork is built on the banks of the Lee not on the river itself. Sentence should not end with a preposition. Q5. Should read "Who FIRST brought potatoes to Ireland?" Q6. Nonsense - most common meal is likely to be pasta and sauce. Q7. There are a number of Nobel Prize categories - be specific! Q8. Yeah right! Q9. There are several armed units in the Irish police - Better known as the Garda Siochana. Q10. Better known as Payne Indehole!

Come on you bollocks. Patrick never drove ANYthing out of Ireland. There was never any snakes there, to begin with. He tried to drive us Druids out, but we just went underground for a few centuries.

JohnJoe: Your cynicism is justified. How about the foolish #6--the most popular meal in Ireland is "Bacon, cabbage and spuds". It is, if you're on the set of The Quiet Man. And #8 tells us that there are no snakes in Ireland because "St. Patrick banished them all". Did the poster sirpeter draw up this quiz? It's complete nonsense.

Re answer nr 3 - You might find that the Labour Party have managed to get their snouts into the trough along with Fine Gael. Accuracy guys! Accuracy is one of the foundation stones of good journalism. Oops sorry! Forget that I spoke. It's Irish Central - good journalism not required.
