ESTABLISHES OR REINFORCES STEREOTYPE THAT THE IRISH ARE FOND OF THE DRINK TO EXCESS. WE HAVE MANY ATTRIBUTES AND ACHEIVMENTS THAT MAKE US PROUD TO BE IRISH AND INTEMPERANCE IS NOT ONE OF THEM.NOR IS IT WITTY
It's in the eye of the beholder. Irish and Drinking can be viewed in a positive social light, or in the temperant, dissapproving, socially inept religious nutjob viewpoint. There are comical threads concerning Russians, (vodka) French (Wine) British (Bitter Beer) American Indians and firewater, etc etc etc. i really don't find these offensive. I like a drink and so do my friends. Some other friends do not. This is really not a big deal at all. Slainte
There is so much more to Irish than beer. No, I would not be wearing any of these shirts. I agree it does stereotypically show the Irish as drunkards, of which there are a few but the majority do not show themselves in this manner.
