Would it be worth including Maria Edgeworth? Liam O'Flaherty's HUNGER? Patrick McCabe? Certainly William Trevor
O,Casey,Sheridan Le Fanu(who's writngs on vampires were plagiarised by Stoker),Sheridan, Goldsmith, Miles na ghcapallin,O'Chatain and the list goes on.

I'll try again most of Irelands great writers are not covered here. Jordana has a narrow view of Irish literature it would seem.
forflann, you must have not noticed they are listed in alphabetical order. I agree O'Brien is high in the top ten. The Third Policeman is one of the funniest books I ever read.
I would have thought Flann O'brien would be farther up the list. I can't wait for At Swim-two-birds to begin filming, at last! Maybe now someone would undertake a film version of Cronin's No Laughing Matter, the biography of Brian O'nolan, written by one who knew him.
