A massive collection of John F Kennedy and Jackie Onassis’ memorabilia including rare candid photographs of the president with his family, as well as clothing and other items, are going up for auction to mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination.
The Daily Mail reports that more than 650 items were recently discovered at the home of David F. Powers, who was JFK’s special assistant and longtime confidant who started working for him in 1946 in the White House.
"Dave traveled with JFK from his political beginnings in 1946 to that tragic day in Dallas in 1963," John McInnis Auctioneers said.
According to NY Daily News, Powers passed away in 1998 aged 85, and his family discovered the personal items hidden away as they prepared to sell the family home in Massachusetts.
“To be auctioned are the personal items he chose to keep close to himself throughout his lifetime. Powers’ collection encompasses years of history with the Kennedy Family and his White House years,' says John McInnis Auctioneers.
