Hi April,
I have a baby nearly the same age as you. My Rachel is 11 mo's old. I would say this, if you don't need to put your baby in day care, don't. A baby's main need at this age is for his primary caregiver. Babies don't actually need friends their own age at this stage and if you feel he needs them you can always have playdates while you're there watching. Maybe he's just not ready for daycare.
However I totally understand if you need to work. I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can work from home and have my kids with me and my heart goes out to everyone who has to put their baby in daycare. Best of luck with everything.
