Kathleen, DED refers to District Electoral Divisions. All you need to know as a genealogist is that in the 1911 Census these are aggregations of townlands, which seem to average about 15 to 20 townlands in most rural areas. Thus, a DED is usually a lot smaller than a parish.
I think it is great. I have already found information on my mothers family in Balgriggin,Co Dublin. More to go.
Very interesting !! I am off to investigate...
Dear Kathleen C, the answer to your question is District Electoral Divisions (DEDs). You'll find more information on Form B (generally you're only scanning the information on Form A). Slan/Good luck!
It's a great plus for me, searching for my mother's true birthdate. But I don't know what DED means, and I can't seem to find an explanation. Birth? Death? Other?
