The O'Neils have contributed much to the history of Ireland, probably more that any other family. This great clan is associated mostly with the region of Ireland that many Dáil T.D.s now consider a natural, legimate and permanent part of G.B. Unfortunately revisionist historians, pro-British journalists and editors, as well as many partitionist prelates also regard O'Neill territory as genuine British soil, but many o us whose roots are in the Southern part of Ireland truly admire the Great O'Neill Clan to whom we owe so much for their great victories over the English at the Yellow Ford (1598),Benburb (1646), and the gallant defence of Limerick in 1691. It is very interesting that the great O'Neill symbol, the Red Hand, had been adopted by Ulster Loyalists as their symbol also.

I have been to one of these "Clan Gatherings " sponsored by a Heraldry Company. What a scam .There was a big banner with our family name on a large hall, inside was a cow trough full of beer!As my brother and I looked at it,we laughed and said What the hell,it brought us here(and I met a cute Molly Murphy)
