katetipp, I advise you never to "Agree with Trealach" because he's quite uninformed about things Irish. In this case, he is utterly wrong to say that Begorrah is not an Irish word. If he had had enough education to have read Irish literature, he would know that Begorrah occurs frequently in nineteenth-century Irsh authors such as William Carleton and Maria Edgeworth. SO both of you are wrong to claim that Begorrah was made in Hollywood. Wouldn't it be a good idea not to post about things you know nothing about?

For feck sake that article was a load of bollix. Agree with Trealach Begorrah was made up in Hollywood. When Americans or the English try an Irish accent it sounds stupid when you hear them do it you say "what the feck is that eejit doing making complete gobshite of himself

For a lesson on how NOT to do it, try listening to that warmongering fool Hannity on radio. He claims his grandparents were Irish, but he knows nothing about that country, and his efforts to mimic an Irish accent make him sound like an imbecile. (Surprise!)

After hearing, and seeing the video, of the lame attempt of Obama to try to "brogue" his way into conversation, I'd say HE SHOULD HAVE touched up on all this ahead of time. But just like his LAME attempt to "toast the queen", he failed !! It is interesting that after all that, now ... his article comes out? Yes, it IS ALL political excuse making.

I believe you would do well to look up the definition of "brogue" in the dictionary and THEN proceed to edit this piece . . . .
