To mark the event, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Belfast City Council are planning a programme of festival events which are more than worth the effort of going to see. These include a spectacular light show to mark the actual opening of the visitor centre.

Other events planned for this year include a 100th anniversary commemoration of the sinking of the ship in the city's Waterfront Hall and MTV will be back in Belfast once again to host a major event on the Titanic Slipway. Meanwhile, the BBC Proms team are due over also to record a concert to be broadcast in September.

On top of all that, a new play called Titanic, based on testimonies given to the British Wreck Commissioners' inquiry into the sinking of the ship, will be performed at the city's MAC.

It all sounds great, but who can afford the airfares that are out there right now?!!?
It is good to know that the Olynpic Torch will be caried for distance in both parts of Ireland. I might also mention that the country accross the Irish Sea competes in the Olympics as Great Britain. I'm now reminded of the 1988 Toyko Olympic Games, where Belfast Protestant Wayne McCullagt, aged 18,was theyoungest member of the Irish team. When asked if he would carry the Tri-Colour (green, white and orange) around the stadium, the young boxer made it known that he would be extremely honored to do so.
Murph, maybe 40,000 yanks on holiday.
Also, Bavaria City Racing is bringing Formula 1 to the streets of Dublin! More than 100,000 spectators are expected to gather for an adrenaline-fuelled afternoon with Superbikes, Super cars, Touring cars, Formula 2, WRC, Drifters, and the star attraction; demonstrations from internationally celebrated F1 cars and drivers. Bavaria City Racing Dublin is a spectacular weekend of activities, with something for everyone, including fashion, music and parties all over the city.
For those who have reading comprehension problems, no one outside the US gives a hoot about your college teenagers and their Notre Dame Naval Academy game. Not even on the radar in rest o'world, contrary to what you might think.
Byethebay -I asked you to bet with me I say 40,000 or more will watch ND-Navy live in Ireland! Put up or shut up!
No where else in the world including Ireland gives one hoot about the teenagers in US college American Football Notre Dame, US Naval Academy game.
The Irish Sea is between Ireland and Great Britain. This is aimed at the residents of Great Britain?
