Last year the Watson brothers and their team laid five of the Duffy’s Cut victims to rest at the West Laurel Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA, with a full funeral and graveside ceremony.

However bringing John Ruddy’s remains back to Ireland is even more meaningful to the team.

Watson said, “We have always wanted to bring one of the men from Duffy's Cut back home, as a way of saying to the world that every life is worth remembering, and everyone deserves to be remembered. The story of John Ruddy's life and death have now been remembered and commemorated through the work of the Duffy's Cut Project team, and now, as he will be returned to his homeland, he will rest in peace.”

Ruddy will finally be buried in Ardara, County Donegal on March 2, 2013.

I remember reading stories about these Irish people's terrible experience at duffy's Cut. I won't forget that place, now. It's good that his remains will be buried in Ireland. Great historical and compassionate work by these Watson Brothers.
I remember reading about this awhile back, and am happy to learn they will get a decent burial now. Same sentiment for King Richard the III, vilified in Shakespeare's play for some 400-plus years. I submit that when your enemy tells your story after you're dead, you might not get the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The young men and the young, much-maligned king all deserve respect and truth about them, in death.
