General Information The name D’Isney was first used by family members living in the small dairy town of Isigny on the coast of Normandy in France. They later brought the name to England. The name is first recorded in Lincolnshire, where the family was granted land by Duke William of Normandy for the family’s service at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The name was Anglicized to Disney. Many English migrated to Ireland, Scotland, and the New World during the Great Migration. In the 1700’s Disney clan members migrated to the south east of Ireland. During the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, many Disney family members emigrated to Maryland. Later in the nineteenth century many Disney family members migrated to New England states.
